Chips: 1,223 | | | 'what's your favorite seat given the choice at a full table? Using this diagram as a guide with the dealer position being available assuming there's not a dedicated dealer please identify your favorite seat and why.
Seats 1 and 9 are known for being pretty lousy since you can't tell what the other player is doing because of being blocked by the dealer as well it being so easy to get your cards mucked in error by the dealer. There's also a school of thought that the 2/3 and 7/8 seats at the heads of the table carry the most weight because of the 'head of table' mentality.
My preference is seat 5 as it's easiest for me to read the cards and see all the action, but folks say that's the place where it's most easy to allow others to read your hole cards.
What say you?

2/8 is a close second, but a lot of dealers sit high and forward enough to start blocking views of the 1/9 seats.
In my usual card room I always try to get 7 since it is against the wall on any tables where they spread the limits I play... less foot traffic behind me.
If I am in the "big game" in our card room, I want any seat except 2/3 since small crowds often gather there to watch big hands or just rail bird a game with more money on the table. (note, our big game is only a 500 sp game) It is really annoying to have people right behind you talking about players/hands/stacks when you are trying to play. |

But ya, seat #5 is nice because you can see the board. Seat #1 or #9 isn't too bad (if there's a dealer vs. at a home game with rotating deal) because you can see most of the other players' faces (except Seat #9 or #1, respectively). Seat #2/#8 isn't bad for the same reason... but suck for dealing if the deal rotates. |

I've found in seat 5 for me, I'm unable to see many of the other players at the table. I like to be able to have a look at what it going on. I'm more of a visual person, and that might explain why I've done so lousy on recent trips to the casino... winding up in 4, 5 or 6 here as of late. I really need to start begging for a seat change when that happens.
For my least favorite (and probably one of the lousiest) seats is number 6 at the MGM Grand. You're right in front of the shuffler with a whopping one inch between the betting line and the top of the shuffler. Just... grrrr. |

Otherwise, 8-2-7-3 and sometimes 1, in that order, depending on the casino.
I have no idea why I prefer 8 to 2. Probably some deep-seated psychological reason having to do with potty training or something.
