KK cash game UTG

Open for advice and discussion on this hand.

2/4 FL live game 10 players. This was the last hand I was going to play win or lose for this session. Been playing for hours and gun shy from suffering 4 bad beats at river, 2 sets losing to str8 & flush, 2 pairs to str8, str8 to flush. I have been playing TA but I think only seat 8 notice.

Everyone loose passive except for seat 4 who have just sat down for less than an orbit but already shown himself to be maniac and player to my right is TAG.

seat 7 post SB
seat 8 post BB

hero seat 9 raise to $4 with
seat 10 calls
seat 1 folds
seat 2 calls
seat 3 calls
seat 4 reraises to $6
rest folds
seat 9 caps to $8
all call

flop

seat 9 bets $2
seat 10 calls
all fold to seat 4 who raises to $4
seat 9 reraises to $6
seat 10 folds
seat 4 caps $8
seat 9 calls

turn

seat 9 bets $4
seat 4 raise to $8

seat 9 ????

edited to exchange suits on the J and T but doesn't affect the hand anyway.

Re: KK cash game UTG

You'd better hope he has QQ or AKh. I'd not have led the turn after he capped flop, I'd have been calling down from there, and lost to AA or JJ.

You can fix the OP by hitting the " advanced" button once you go to edit it.

I am not a FL or PL player s I can't commnt on this hand but I am curious to hear what others have to say

Re: KK cash game UTG

you should have called down from the flop cap. As played you are probably behind, but if he has JT you have 5 outs (2 Ks and 3 8s) so you need to call the turn. And once you get to the river you only have to be best 1 in about 12 times so you should call because villain just went nuts with QQ or AJ often enough that you could still be good.

I call down, but don't expect to be winning.

pfr and cap is good, flop 3-bet fine. when you get capped on the flop you need to call down. Giving a free card to the draws is not as bad as getting raised on the turn when you have at best 5 outs.

Re: KK cash game UTG

Actually, after being raised thougts of AA or 2 pairs was running thru my mind on the flop. My thinking was more towards 2 pairs than AA with his idiot plays so far but wanted to be agressive because of the str8 and flush draw on the flop.

I considered checking on the turn but having seen his maniac play on every hand so far, I didn't want to give him any odds to draw, therefore I betted the turn.

Bit more on this player. He sat down UTG 6 hands previous and stradled, called to the river and lost. Raised every hand since, chopped one with a 52, got idiot end of a str8 and raised bettor with the 56789 str8.

most maniacs who cap flops with draws don't take free cards. Plus you already forced him to put in 4sb on the flop to see the turn, so even if he took a free card it isn't a disaster.

The bad result is when you get raised on the turn with a hand that has very little chance of becoming a winner, but with which you almost certainly need to get to SD with. Your hand has bad RIO, basically if he is way ahead of you he can raise and reraise and make the max. But if you are ahead of him he likely has a lot of outs to improve, and only has to put in 1 BB to see the river.

Hands like KK and AA should often be powered through when you get resistance on the flop in limit. but when you get capped on the flop you usually need to slow down and get to SD instead of hoping that you've caught a maniac on a draw.

Re: KK cash game UTG

Hah too funny. I had this situation recently. Was UTG playing 5/10NL. I find KK under my hands and I raise to $35 so as not to scare anyone off and to induce a raise. All fold to BB who calls.

Flop is Q-8-3. BB checks I bet $85, calls. Turn is a 3. BB checks and I bet $125 he calls. River comes a deuce he bets $250 and I figure I'm destroyed...think for awhile, decide he might be trying to take the pot from me (he was doing this frequently to others) and I make a curiosity call. He shows 6-3 os. I just laugh. Most people get annoyed with this situation but I find myself being the 6-3 guy more often than not so I can't complain.
