Chips: 247 | | | Ask-A-Dealer I've worked as a dealer for while now, with a short stint as a floorman. A few people have remarked that I helped them out with my perspective, so I thought I'd open up a thread where you can ask me anything about a dealer's/floorman's job or perspective, etc.
If anyone else here is a dealer or floorman, I'd love to see how our views align on these questions too.

I compliment you on your fortitude. I'd be tasting blued steel...or turn it on a patron.

Looking forward to the Q&A
I have not played in casinos enough to warrant any real questions other than what is the craziest hand or situation you have seen as a dealer (very touristy type of question - I know) |

I'm not thinking of cheating, btw, but I am curious about what to watch for as a player.
Nice idea for a thread! |

Chips: 247 | | | Re: Ask-A-Dealer Q: How do I not blow my own brains out?
A: I haven't bought a gun yet.
No, actually a real love for the game of poker keeps this job enjoyable for a very long time. Also a drive to be the best I can, and a love of social interaction with the players.
However, the place I work now makes me work in the blackjack and craps pit too, so I'm feeling a bit burned out lately. Hopefully a vacation will make me feel better. I'm planning on one soon.
Q: What's the craziest situation I've seen in the casino?
A: Well, I've dealt the bad beat jackpot, and people go pretty nuts when they win that... I've also seen guys get into fistfights following altercations at the poker table.
But one of my favorite incidents was one day when some guy who just hated money came in to play 2/5 No Limit. Sometimes he would play just fine, but then other times he would get a wild hair up there and decide to just go all-in blind. At first, people didn't think he was really blind, but he started flipping his cards over when people laid down, and they were usually real rags. He started getting called left and right when he went all-in blind, and he kept buying in again.
The hallmark of the night, however, was when he went all-in blind, got one caller, and I put out the board. It was five rags, something like 3 9 J 5 2. The caller turns over pocket kings, and the crazy guy turns up one of his cards, showing an ace. "Hey I had a chance to win this time!" he said cheerfully, then tossed his other card in face down.
I swear that card moved in slow motion. It hung in the air for a moment, wobbled funny, landed on one corner and spun for a second, then fell face up, about 1/2 an inch from the muck. It was a 4, and he didn't even realize he had a straight. The table went ballistic. He took a huge chunk out of the guy with kings (that guy then went on tilt and blew it all), and then went back to playing like a retard and gave all that away too. |

That is a pretty insane story. I am headed to Vegas in 2 weeks - hopefully I can run into someone who hates money that much out there
Thanx for sharing Quote:
