If you can't get either done in that amount of time, TS.

Casinos usually give 15 minutes after the second Absent button gets placed. A dealer puts out an Absent button when a player leaves and a new dealer puts one in front of any absent seat when he starts his down. Depending on how long dealer downs are and when a player gets up to leave this can theoretically be anywhere from 35 to 75 minutes before chips are pulled off the table.

Run for a quick break, save it without thinking twice.
Fortunately I play low enough stakes that the casino isn't protecting any high rollers at my table. When a new dealer sits, the hold is usually removed upon request. Why do I have to play shorthanded so some jerk can scarf pizza? |

What Foxwoods does is gives you some kind of lockup so that when you come back from your dinner break, you get put second on the list of the game you were playing at. I think they give you like a half hour or 45 minutes to come back or something. |

(its a timer) and they put 1 hr on the button for you to go and enjoy your dinner. its not fair for a player to sit down and play for 5-6 hrs and not eat anything. specially up here since you are not allowed to eat at the table. in vegas its a bit diffrent cause you can eat at the table. even so they will allow you to miss up to an hour and a half..
which is 3 dealer changes. now get this. i been at a table where the guy missed 4 dealer changes. but he had like 3K on the table so the floor didn't want to mess with it and just let it go until the guy got back like 2hrs and 15 min later.
i guess some casinos have policys about picking up players with certain amount of dollars on the table.
getting back to niagara falls. if you get up from the table to go for a smoke or something. then you don't get a dinner button. you just get up and go. at that point you got 2 blinds to miss. on the 2nd blind you are picked up.
so leave after you posted your BB to get 2 full rounds which is about 30-35 min. depending on the dealer. |

At the local casino's here in Alberta, a 1 hour dinner break button can be requested...at which point a player waiting to play may actually sit in the spot and play for that hour, with the understanding they are playing 'over someone's dinner button' and should another spot not open up, they are required to get up and relinquish the seat to the player returning from dinner. Often seats open up and that 'interim player' may be moved to another table.
This is just what I have observed while playing at least. I have never asked them about their full procedure and rules about this, nor have I ever requested a dinner marker. If someone is playing over someone else's dinner button, obviously, the person's chips who is on break are racked up and put aside at the cage upon their return. |
