betting lines

i have visited so many casinos that do have a betting line but don't enforce the betting line rules.. even at the bellagio in vegas. they only enforce the rule in tournaments. in cash/ring games. that line means absolutly nothing. why do they even have them then? and since they do why don't they enforce it and why don't all poker rooms have betting lines and enforce them? i think they should be stricktly enforced.

Re: betting lines

At the local casino here, they do enforce the betting line. Any chips over the line such as under call is commited.

Re: betting lines

If betting lines are present, I think they should be used and enforced. Prevents or at least discourages all sorts of problems, including some forms of angle shooting.

In Vancouver area, River Rock, Boulevard, Holiday Inn on Broadway, EdgeWater, Cascade. I haven't been to the Cascade yet as it is farest at 35 miles.

If you are ever out here, give them at try, they are nice rooms but stakes might be too low for you as the higher stake games seems to have dry up the last year or so. Use to have limit games up to 100/200 but highest seem only one 20/40 FL at EdgeWater now. I don't follow the NL action but I think highest is $25 game with $2500 buy in but doesn't run all the time, usually 2/5 NL.

Re: betting lines

Can I jump on this band wagon.

I like the way the dealers at the V work it. Betting lines are enforced, but also "interpreted". I had a couple chips get away from me
as I was shuffling them and roll just over the line . The action just came to me too. The dealer recognized my intent was not to bet them and let me collect them and check.

I like to keep my cards close to my stack. Betting lines allow me to cut cheques in front of my cards but behind the line before committing them to the pot.

If I replace the cloth on any of my tables with custom dyed cloth, you better believe they will have betting lines.

I'm with you. What's the point of having a feature but not using it, especially when it makes things clearer? Seems silly to me. It would be like having a dealer button at your disposal, but not using it and just making everybody remember who had the button.
