Chips: 111 | | | I am new at running cash games I am new at running cash game at my house. I do have tournaments about once a week and I want to start a cash game about once a week. What should I do as rules? Is a cash game that mush different then a tournament? Should cash games only be no-limit hold'em so should I add dealer pick? What should I do about seating? Thanks for the help. |

You can play any stake, Fix or NL as you wish, any game you want. My games are usually fix limit holdem but pick your own favourites. Cash/ring games are the norm for poker, tournaments are a new thing stemming from the popularity of the TV shows. I like cash vs tourney as everyone is in the game all the time, in a tourney, the early bustouts are drinking beer until the tourney ends. As for picking seats, you can draw for seats if everyone arrives at the same time, otherwise just let everyone sit where they want. I think free choice of seats would be best as there will be less confrontation is someone wants to move to different seat, etc. |

Whatever, there are a ton of games. Or if you decide to stick to a particular style of play like holdem or omaha, you can keep a blind structure, as long as you keep track of who missed a blind when people get up to get a beer. |

Modify or add to them for your specific games, but make sure you know them pretty well, and make sure you have them available, and make sure you announce that you are using them! GL. |

Most good "rules" try to avoid problems by anticipating them. For instance, the 0ne Hour Rule (or 1/2 hour). Example: guy wins big pot, folds next hand then says he's got to go. GL getting out the door. One hour rule is a courtesy that you announce your time to leave one hour before to avoid the hit and run. Also if you announced at 6 that your leaving at 7 and at 6:59 you hit a big pot then leave. It's not held against you. |

I do like the one hour rule and I think I will have to use it as one of my rules. What other rule do you guys have in place? |

Commerce Casino is 10 minutes away. Go there if that's your way." The othe rule, or suggestion in a cash game... (Learned this one from Quads), ALWAYS help the house out by buying in with smaller bills. If it's a $100 buy in... don't bring only $100 bills. Strip bar money is always good for buy in's, 20's, 5's and 1's. Not everyone will do it, most won't. But if even three people do it, that's a huge help when you cash people out later. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
