Chips: 101 | | | What is appropriate penalty for rule infractions What would be right penalty for rule infractions? In other posts, members have said penalties but a timeout is no use in a cash game, timeout is only good for tourneys. This would be for something like betting out of turn repeatly and not for something clear cut. In a casino, players could be ejected from the game for repeated offenses but for a home game, what would work short of ejecting/banning the player.
I have too many instances of angle shooting at my home game.

Chips: 498 | | | Re: What is appropriate penalty for rule infractions I've never seen home game rules with any penalties except warnings and suspensions. Of course, that doesn't mean we can't make some! I hate angle-shooting because it is deceitful, slow, not-fun, and against the spirit of the game. If these people are slowing your game down, announce a 30-second clock rule if you suspect them of trying to be cute. Warn them away from the table the first time. Warn them at the table the second time. The third time tell them that they can go home and come back next week. If it's a tourney, thanks for the donation buddy! If it's a cash game, you could have them sit out for a round or two. Since it's your game, you make the rules. As long as you announce your rules and are fair, you're running a good game.
The thing about angle-shooting is that if you are deliberate and paying attention and acting when it is definitely your turn, you never have to be a victim. If somebody is trying to pull that stuff on me, I cross my arms on the table, lay my head down and close my eyes and say something snide like "Wake me up when slowpoke over there makes a decision." |

If it's headsup - the offender forfeits the pot. If it's someone not in the hand making inappropriate comments about the hand - 10xBB penalty into the next pot. That should get quick results. |

Oh the chips were put towards a beer fund...since May though I have had a keg system working and guys chip in for beer every now and then so I don't have to worry about the penalty jar!!
You know maybe I should bring that back and use it buy more chips...hmmmm..... |

The excavation for the hydraulics and fire chamber below were H#ll, but I think overall it has been worth it. I've only had to use it twice, and we have a rather orderly game as a result.
Actually my games are pretty friendly with little cash involved, so moral suasion is usually sufficient. I have had to uninvite a couple of people over the years, but I guess I've been lucky.

Am I slow...depends....how fast are we going? Quote:

Man I gotta get a word of the day calendar!! | Not to thread-jack, but more than once I have started out poker night with the phrase 'Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to my underground lair'

Sit 'em out an orbit (or two), punish with extra BBs into the pot?
