Chips: 11 | | | Bounties in a cash game? First off, sorry for all the questions related to cash games. Our regular host is moving, so I'll look to assume his role as host. Now that I have a better idea of cash game rebuys, I wanted to ask about the viability of adding bounties to a cash game.
Does anyone use them in a cash game? If so, how are they working out? Personally, I think it would be fun to collect money from each player before play starts and distribute it at the end of the night based on the number of bounty chips a player collected.
Also, if they are used, are players required to purchase another when after they rebuy (after busting out)? It seems like it would be necessary, but I wasn't sure.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I did a search and did not see any mention of this. Thanks! |

No go on the bounty chip. Don't see the point. But I'm a bit of a poker puritan. Set me down with a good dealer, adequate cards, decent chips, and nothing wild, and I'm ready to go.

Chips: 47 | | | Re: Bounties in a cash game? Hard to have bounties when you can rebuy before you're out of chips. I don't like playing with just a few chips, always try and have at least the minimum buy-in or close to it. If I'm not allowed to buy in for more before I'm out I'll be a bit upset if I hit a big hand and only have a few bucks left....not able to win your chips back without doubling up again and again, being shortstacked also eliminates any fold equity. Kind of insult ot injury when you add someone winning your bounty as well as your roll. The nice things about bounties in tournies is that you can collect a liitle cash/bragging rights even if you don't make the final 2 or 3 places. Cash game, cash is king.

I guess bounties would work if you allowed rebuys only after busting out? |

That being said, you could buy buttons called stackers or something. Every time someone doubles you up (all-in an win) or you stack someone (all-in and lose), the loser has to give you his button. Maybe have everyone chip in $3 at the beginning of the night and give out 3 buttons to each person. As long as you have a button left, you can win a button from someone else. If you lose all your buttons, then you can't win anymore. Cash them all-in at the end of the night.
PS: I've never done this, probably wouldn't ever do it but go for it if it sounds like fun. Nothing like shuffling a bunch of "bounty" chips while someone is deciding to call your all-in. |

Chips: 1,037 | | | Re: Bounties in a cash game? I've played in many games with Bounty chips, any many games with. IMO the best reason for considering them is if you have players who want to play for more money than other players.
Say that half your crowd really only feels comfortable buyin in for $20, with maybe one reload. They may be players who would like to buy in for 20 +a 20bounty chip. It's a good way IMO for the players who want to gamble more, well gamble more I guess. |

Chips: 111 | | | Re: Bounties in a cash game? Bounties does not work well in cash game. Also there is no busting out in cash. You can lose your stack but should be able to rebuy as many times as you want.
The only way it will work is for a fun micro limit game. If you play cash game seriously, there is no need for bouties. |
