Should seats be drawn in cash game?

What do the majority of members do? Draw for seats or just let everyone sit where they want in a home game?

In public rooms, first come first serve, but how about home games?

I like drawing for seats in home games...even redrawing at some point in a longer evening to shake things up.

Normally sit wherever; the last thread I started about switching seats during a cash game seating was an anomaly.

My home game is first come first served, some people just want to sit on the end for the extra arm and leg room. In the casino I just hate to sit next to the dealer. Too hard to see the action of the players just on the other side of the dealer.

Call on your way, lock up a seat.
Show up, pick your seat.
Show up late, take what's available.

I would only say this is necessary if there are one or maybe two really poor players. It just avoids things like the host (or whoever) saying "here you go Freddy, take this seat on my right!" every week.

We draw for seats when we start and people who come into the game sit where ever. We also re-draw every hour.

Most of the time, at my games, I just let everyone sit where they want. At one of the games someone suggested drawing for seats and we did without any problem.

The reason I ask is that I don't want to go the extra trouble of drawing for seats but lately everyone wants to sit to the left of me.

Also why draw seat if there are late comers and they can sit where ever they want.

I agree with tastic. It helps avoid collusion, especially between couples, whether intentional or unintentional.

Although, even with drawing cards, it always seems that the tightest players end up on my right and the loosest/most aggressive end up on my left, no matter what! Maybe I'm just unlucky... Sometimes I whine about it and nobody seems to know what I'm talking about - or maybe they do and it's a big conspiracy... perhaps I shouldn't take a bathroom break between tourney and cash game... giving just enough time to rig the deck for the "draw for seats"... that could explain why they sometimes say "no, not that card; here, take this one!"
