Chips: 11,934 | | | I personally have no direct experience with the Bellagio WPT chips; however, the regular WPT chips are not too bad; although they are not "real clay" either.
If you like the looks of the set, I would recommend you take the plunge: the price is higher than dice chips, but not so bad that if you don't like them when you get them in hand, you could probably re-sell them and break even. You could also "regift" them if you don't wish to keep them for yourself.
All in all, what constitutes a great chip is up to you - if you like the look and feel, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.
One last thought: I can't actually tell from the pictures how many denominations are included (it looks like four or five - either my eyes or the pictures are bad), but three denominations for 500 chips is pretty good. Most people get too many colors in a smaller set and end up with a less than optimal mix. Three, maybe four, would be good, but five may be too many for your game, depending on what structure you use.

Chips: 684 | | | I dunno. The current price is ~$130, plus whatever additional shipping charge there might be ($25-$30?). Pretty steep for what you're actually getting. |

Chips: 11,934 | | | Thier worth is completely subjective: If you like the price, buy - if you think it is too much, don't.
There are a ton of other chip sets you could get for the same, or even less, money; however, if they are worth the price to you, then buy and be happy.
I have found that chip purchases are like car purchases: no matter what you buy and how good of a deal you think you made, there is always someone who will tell you how much better they could have done.

Chips: 11,934 | | | Most of the WPT chips are not the "bellagio" variety; however, the reason may be that these are just the new "style" WPT is selling. Either way, buy what you like.
I would, however, recommend obtaining samples - if you even can - or finding someone else who has a set you can physically put your hands on. That way you can really determine if you think they are worth the money. See how the fell, how the stack, how stable stacks of chips are, if the chips are uniform in appearance or have lots of little flaws. Then you will be able to make the most informed decision.
Also remember, chips are like cars and women: everyone has thier own tastes.

Chips: 1,728 | | The chips themselves look pretty much like the same chip that is sold with the WPT logo. They're a standard plastic chip with a metal slug, but the inlays are of decent quality with a slightly rough surfaces that tends to add a little adhesion to the chip. This is the first time that I've seen them with a Bellagio logo, but I wouldn't expect them to be any different from the chips with the WPT logo. There's a review of the WPT chips at http://www.pokerchipreviews.com/injection.html that might give you a general idea of what to expect. UPDATE: Just found out that this particular set is being carried in some of Wal*Mart's Sam's Club warehouse stores for about $100. There's some question as to whether or not this version has a metal insert though (at least not one that responds to a magnet, and the cards included are rumored to be some sort of plastic. I have no other info and don't have a Sam's nearby. |

Chips: 8 | | | WPT Bellagio Sam's carries this 500 chipset for about $89 + tax
These are fine, but they do have a metal plug and are plastic coated (which can create problems with large stacks).
You're paying a bit of a premium for the WPT and Bellagio logo, but they are decent. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
