Yeah, I think it's because my rating or whatever isn't high enough to set up a "buy-it-now only" auction.

Never heard of needing a certain rating to list a BIN only listing - is that new?


Blaster was right - the BIN goes away after the first bi is placed. In the past this wasn't the case but feebay changed the rules awhile ago.

Hmmm...I guess I didn't look too hard, but they made me put in a starting bid and I didn't have the option to set a reserve either. I think they said you need something like a 40 rating to do this? I don't know...I could be completely wrong.

I think you need(ed) to have a yellow star what means 10 positive feedbacks IIRC.

but ebay has done a lot of changes in the early past, so they might have changed that as well.

btw, thanks to the new feedback changes I now have 254 instead of 232 overnight.

that's correct, IF you have no reserve or the reserve has been hit. Than the BIN is off.

oh yeah,

I'm not sure about the yellow star requirement (unless they made it higher than 10 feedback points) because Link has a yellow star and 17 points.

They made many changes to the feedback system starting in May '08, including not allowing sellers to leave negative or neutral feedback (which I personally think is terrible). You can see the changes in detail here

Ebay feedback changes

The reason your feedback went up is they are now allowing feedback to count on multiple transcations with one buyer/seller. In the past you only got one point even if you did 100 transactions with someone. They went all the way back to 1996 for the feedback change

Quick noob question:

I've got a few bids on these. I clicked on the "2" (total number of bids) and see two bids at the current price, $150. How does that work exactly?

Click on "show automatic bids". Looks like the original bidder (the one which showed up as $125) had already entered the highest amount he was willing to go, so when the second bidder put in exactly $150, the original bidders proxy was there first.
