ebay seller question...never received this before?!

So, I just got a message from someone asking me if I have a problem shipping the item I have for auction to a different address besides the person who will be purchasing?

I've never been asked this before, so a couple questions I was wondering about:

1. Are there any seller protection rules I would be violating by doing this?

2. Is this a scammer?

3. Should I have a problem with this...because I don't!

I've had overseas buyers ask to do this before. I've done it where I receive a message from them via ebay email. I send UPS with tracking and insurance.

If you are counting on paypal's protection, you normally have to ship to the buyers verified address. If you don't, you can lose that protection. If you aren't using paypal, then I guess it doesn't matter unless the payment is bogus (bad check, etc).

I'd be using paypal, but the payment will have to go through before I send, so that shouldn't be a problem, right? Once its in my account, it can't be taken away right?

Technically yes. However, if the buyer does issue a dispute, in the future Paypal can grab new money that is placed into your paypal account. So you might be able to get this one out in time, but the next one might not make it out. Make any sense?

interested party has been a member since Oct. 2006 but has a (0) rating with no feeback as a buyer or seller in the last 12 months???

I have done this before for buyers through ebay but not if my "Spidy Sense" is tingling about the transaction in general. If the ebay buyer is a long time meber with good feedback I will usually do it. You do not get buyers protection unless you ship to the verified address in paypal though.

Is this their ebay info or CT?

If it's ebay the 0 feedback would make me a bit leery even though they have been a memeber since '06

LOL, that's nothing. I've been an ebay member since 2000 and have zero feedback over the past 12 months too. No activity at all since Feb. '07. I was just thinking that I need to buy something soon to get rid of that zero rating.

I just re-read the feedback comment and realized I was thinking 0 transactions not that there was positive and negative feedback that resulted in a 0 rating.

Anyway........I'd still proceed with caution

Do you know if this is a CTer we're talking about? I've had a bunch of CTers ask if they can have the items they've won on eBay shipped to me since the seller will not ship internationally. I've agreed to it a few times but have recently stopped doing this for a host of different reasons....
