I was bidding on Devin's remaining Crystal Park chips and I was snipped at the last second by an unknown (to me) bidder. The auction ended up closing for $1750, which was considerably more than my bid. About 40 minutes after the auction ended I received this email from eBay:
The listing in which you were a bidding participant:
220208151520 - 532 Crystal Park Clay Paulson Poker Chips
has been ended by eBay. Since the listing was ended by eBay, for the transaction itself is null and void.
To protect the privacy of all eBay members, we can't discuss the details of the listing removal. We hope this assures you that your account information will also remain private.
If the seller relists the item, you are welcome to bid on it again.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Thank you for your understanding.
I've never seen that. Wonder if the bidder withdrew their bid?

I was just about to post about the same listing. WTF? I received the same message just after the listing ended. Never seen this before? I'm gonna try emailing Devin and asking him what happened. I'll keep you posted.
I wonder if a fraudulent auction could use the original pictures enough times that ebay 'safety' could get confused and pull an auction from the person originated the images in the first place. Would be kind of messed up. I know nothing about this, just thinking out loud.
As a seller I received something similar to that earlier this year. The person immediately, and I mean immediately, must have contacted eBay stating they didn't actually place the bid. I got 3 messages all at once from eBay on my blackberry when the item sold. One telling me it was sold, second was a copy of the email to the buyer, and the third was one from eBay stating the auction had been ended by them because the seller's account had been 'compromised'. Good news is my item sold for $100 more when I relisted
