Are these really worth it????. Discuss Are these really worth it????, on ChipTalk.net the place to go for your Poker chips and gambling tips. Read it in Auction Links.
The chips being offered in auction are NOT from the Silver Slipper in Las Vegas, NV and were erroneously placed into all three major price guides for Nevada! It has since been learned that these chips are strictly of Canadian casino use and NOT Las Vegas, NV. The auctions do not claim that they are from Las Vegas, NV, however the Title description includes the erroneous Rarity and Series number noted in the Official US Casino Price Guide, aka: The Campiglia/Wells Price Guide. My thanks to DeputyFL (Von) for making aware of this post and now that I've posted this Warning, I've stolen his thunder. Sorry Von! Jim (Gaming Ore) Follis
I'm pretty sure the Silver Slipper shown in the first auction link is from Canada and not worth anywhere near that much. I'm sure Jim and some of the other chippers can provide a lot more information than me though.

I think it is actually the 13th issue of the Silver Slipper $5 chip from Las Vegas. They had both $1s and $5s made on that mold for this issue. This chip is listed as an R-10 and has values ranging from $600-$900-$1200 depending on condition obviously.
These Silver Slippers listed in the first auction are from Canada. A CC>CC member, Tom Munrow, got some of these and sold them on the chip board for under $10. He had said that the place opens for a short time every year and that he gets them when they are open. Also records were found after the guide books were published that prove they werent Vegas. When Tom had let everyone know, he had emailed a bunch of sellers to tell them that they were not Vegas. Most cancelled the auctions but some refused. Alot of chippers have gotten burned on these. Even if they were Vegas ( and they arent) most sellers show them as rare and even list Chip Guide numbers such as R-10 and R-8 depending on the denom. I have seen tons of these on ebay that would make the Chip Guide rarity number drop significantly. Hope this helps.-Von
