eBay fraud -"chip used in the movie rounders"

Look at this nonsense. Even the crappy photos can't hide the blatant fraud. TRKing copy but somebody will probably get hosed...

The pitch:

"You are bidding on a rare collectable poker chip, $100 Black Russian Bear chip used in the movie rounders with Matt Damon that launched the poker craze! Its sealed in an air tight collectors cover and prefect to use an a card cover during poker play. Its the ideal gift for any serious poker player. Its NOT a sticker, its a REAL poker chip with REAL weight to it.
FREE USPS Priorty Mail Shipping with Confirmation Signature Required.
Good Luck Bidding!!
PS Dont Let The Last One Slip Thru Your Fingers! This is ALL IN move."

The reality is in the pics:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Rounders-Movie-1...QQcmdZViewItem

[EDIT - note that the content at the link has been changed now from the original listing and the $88 Buy-it-Now option has been removed. The original text of the listing is shown above and the word "replica did not appear there or in the auction title]
How can this be stopped?

Neil

Re: eBay fraud -"chip used in the movie rounders"

I tried reporting it to eBay but their system won't allow me to report it because the listing number has too many digits:

"Item number(s) is not valid or belongs to an item that has ended. Please try again.
Up to 10 items separated by commas "

The item is still listed but it has 12 digits.

Nice move eBay - limit your reporting function to items with little old numbers that are too small to cover current auctions.....

That's great. It's been reported - thanks. Now we just have to wait and see if eBay does anything about this "SquareTrade" verified member's auction. I sent the seller a message and am awaiting their reply....

Re: eBay fraud -"chip used in the movie rounders"

I'm no Ebay-guru, but i finally managed to report the item (which wasn't easy, they really need to go over their reporting functionality). Although i'm not sure i made the right kind of report. Actually i reported it twice as i didn't know which type of report was more correct. I reported it as "Misleading Titles" and also as "Replica and Counterfeit Items"... I found no "Misleading or erroneous item description" or similar... well...
We'll just have to wait and see what happens next.

A few Dan. My thread hasn't been bumped for some time so it must be waaayyyy down on the M2M page. I haven't looked for a while. My stock is low and somebody has indicated an interest in getting a bunch of what I have. We did another transaction for something else and niether of us has followed up.

I plan to go back and edit my thread because postal rates and the drastic change in the value of our Canadian dollar in relation to the U.S. dollar have resulted in potential reductions for me if I sell at the price in my original thread.

Of course, I'm always open to trades for Olivia's Poker Hall NCV 1 and 5 chips...

Best regards,

Neil

(we've threadjacked my thread!?? )

You could possibly use the "ask the seller a question" function on Ebay and ask why he's listing the phony chip while pointing out the evidence. Buyers could see the question and his response. I never done this so I can't say what if any ramifications there would be.

I did send him a message pointing out that the chip was not the same as the movie chips, explaining that one was a TR king and the other ASM and the TR kings had nothing to do with the film. I guess the fact that the system only shows my user name "northernferg" and doesn't give him my home address and other personal information he could use enraged him - a good thing as it turns out as he seems to be happy to ignore the evidence and instead of asking for other information he chose to attack me personally. His reply:

"i would never in a million justify myself to someone who insulted me by asumming I'm being dishonest in their questions or comments. You don't even put your name in your email! You damand me to correct my listing? You have some nerve when you dont even introduce yourself just damand and assume fraud from an Ebay member with 100% rating. In the words of Carlos Mencia" you are a Dee Dee Dee" and since you conduct yourself in the manner of assumption. I will assume your an ******* and be blunt with you "**** OFF", you make me want to vomit with your lack of manners and people skills, your parents did a poor job raising you and it shows in the way in which you introduce yourself to others. If you we had met in person you would never said this to my face because doing so would have landed you face down in the dirt knocked out. You will one day learn repsect when you handle yourself in this manner in the street, but I'm sure you coward in person but are brave over the internet accusing and assuming others of fraud and dishonesty!

I will never write you again, so don't bother writing me back I delete it before viewing because you will never learn anything from my words just view them as an insult and you should!
R "

Perhaps a few other members could send him a message pointing out his error - that might help as he hi way up on his high-horse right now - just remember yo be sugary sweet to him as he obviously has some anger management issues.

Best regards,

N
