Chips: 1,847 | | | Are these chips REALLY from a casino? Hotstamped with "AC" on one side, so the seller guesses they were probably played in AC??? http://cgi.ebay.com/710-Paulson-REAL...QQcmdZViewItem |

Maybe roulette or poker table chips but would not have been used in Craps or Blackjack |

Maybe roulette or poker table chips but would not have been used in Craps or Blackjack | But there is no casino named "AC" |

I'm guessing these were from the days when you could get Paulson chips hot-stamped with your initials... but I've never seen those colour/spot combinations on Paulson home chips! I really like them. Nice progression. Price is too high, though (imo). |

However, I haven't seen those edge spot combination on home chips before, so it could be that they are from a casino (some smaller clubs have used the same denomination/initials combination), although my guess would be that they are not.

I had to chuckle at that one. Granted, I'm easily amused. |

I had to chuckle at that one. Granted, I'm easily amused. | That may not be a bad strategy. Reminds me of the (either fictional or highly embellished) story of the old lady selling beaded jewelry at the market. She priced her necklaces at $2.50 and was lucky to sell 10 of them in a week. Then she had to go out of town and asked her daughter to run her booth while she was away. Her daughter misread the instructions and wrote the price as $25.00. She sold 100 in a day.
People will pay more (and more often) if they think the item is really worth something (i.e. "a bargain" vs. "a cheap piece of jewelry"). Of course, I doubt that strategy will be as effective in an open market like eBay, especially given so much competition and information (like what it used to be listed for last time). |
