so selling something for more than what it's worth, in order to make money, makes you an idiot?
so the guys who sell home run baseballs for $500,000 and up are idiots?
I think that makes them 'opportunists', not idiots.
it was foolish to spell Copag as 'copeg' in the auction, but if he capitalizes on this and turns a buck, more power to him. |

Originally Posted by jgobar Do you wanna try selling a set of Copag's for a grand? Best of luck to you!!! | the opening bid is $449, the BIN is $999, first off.
considering that these have sold in the $120-200 range before and the opening bid is $449, it doesn't seem that inconceivable for a collector with deep pockets.
that means that a $15 deck of Copags could go to a collector with money to burn for $449. now consider a major baseball with a worth of $30 has sold for $1million in the past, this auction isn't that far-fetched.
I can't comprehend your logic on why you think someone trying to make money, off someone over-paying for a collectible, is an idiot. So if a shop owner tries to sell a $60 vintage record for $200 to a fan willing to overpay, that makes the store owner an idiot? I'm sorry that makes them many things, but an idiot isn't one of them.
A cheat, a hustler, an opportunist, a con...perhaps...but an idiot, it does not make. |

IF someone buys these cards- then the value of the cards is what the buyer paid.
IF they sell...
I will feel like an idiot for not posting MY WSOP cards that we have from the tournament first

A cheat, a hustler, an opportunist, a con...perhaps...but an idiot, it does not make. | We are not talking about vintage records or baseball's we are talking about plastic playing cards. Ok then if somebody puts up an opening bid of $400 plus for this set even after being used then you can call me a donk until then I wouldn't say that idiot is too far from the truth. |

If these sell for that much then I will have no choice than to post them up on eBay. For that much I will have a great down payment on my new Escalade!!! |

Chips: 3,421 | | | Re: WSOP Cards on EBAY LMFAO (How stupid can people really get) I can't see getting $500 for a deck (rather a setup) of cards, but to the buyer, it's the value of what they are willing to pay.
I have a deck of Copags from the 2005 WSOP as well. Played with by the pro's too.. WoooWhooo! Whatever....
But here is the funny thing.... it's not worth $500 or even $1,000 to me. I wouldn't sell them for that. AFAIC, they are worth more to me personally than the money they would bring on the open market, should there be an open market for 2005 WSOP Copags. But even at that, I wouldn't take $1,000 for them.
To me, they are worth more than that as a conversation piece, or as something I can pass down to my children telling them the story of the events I played and how I came across the setup.
All in the eyes of the buyer I guess. If the guy can get that much for them, all the power to him! Free comerece- America! |

Chips: 3,968 | | | Re: WSOP Cards on EBAY LMFAO (How stupid can people really get) Gotta agree... A guy like Hachem could probably just ask for a set and get them, but what about the non-pro that finished in 106th place who made money and wants a "game-used" deck? He may be willing to overpay, since it has more inherent value to him than a general person...
