New "Look at my stuff on ebay" thread?

Is it just me or has the auction link thread increasingly been turned into a free ebay ad for people selling their chips? I'm probably just too grumpy and will get a lot of negative feedback on this, but it annoys me quite a bit when 9/10 posts there are effectively ads.

EDIT: Blerg - meant to make the title 'look at my stuff on ebay' forum.

Re: New "Look at my stuff on ebay" thread?

Whats the damage in that?

Most of the things CTers post on Ebay are interesting to me. I've even bought lots of stuff off their auctions. I'm glad they told me.

On a side note, I won't post items that I really want off of ebay. Why would I want to subject myself to a bidding war?

If I posted something that I thought was really nice, I would be charged with spamming.

I'm not trying to stir it up with you with this question.

What is that forum supposed to be used for then?

I agree with Jayson, I love it when people inform me on a possible good chip deal, thats one of my first threads I check....

Re: New "Look at my stuff on ebay" thread?

I know I'm old in Chiptalk years (if not posts) but back in the day I remember the auction thread being used for:
-Linking to bad ebay auctions clearly to laugh at them. This is my favorite part
-Linking to good ebay auctions. I suspect this was usually done by people who weren't bidding on the auction themselves
-Linking to crazy high value auctions
-Warning potential sellers of bogus auctions

I haven't counted if there has been a rash of 'look at my stuff on ebay' threads recently - it just seemed that way to me. I know people want to sell their stuff and don't blame them, but if this post is instead of a Member-to-Member sales post, then aren't they taking advantage of CT and the forum as it's set up? A couple of auctions in particular bothered me as well because while they were good for ebay standards in attracting potential sellers I personally think they were misleading.

Oh, and if I had a signature mine would say 'ebay is the devil' so a lot of my grumpiness is more ebay directed than CT member directed. Still, when coming to this forum I do it for a laugh/general interest. If I want to buy something I'll go to MTM sales. If there was a forum of 'my stuff on ebay' it would certainly be clear what it represented/was for.
