Like the "real clay, official casino weight," 11.5g slugged chips. Many folks type "clay poker chips" into the search bar without really knowing what they are, then get lost in the sea of hits that pop up. High-volume sellers know this and take liberties with their descriptions.
If a cheap chip set is made by GRI, is it a Paulson? Of course not. Is it "made by Paulson", as this auction states? Not really, but in a loose sense it would be made by the people (GRI) who make Paulsons.
This may not be the best analogy as I am not much of a car person, but to me, this is like selling an entry-level Ford and saying that it's "made by Jaguar." They are both manufactured by the same company, but that's about where any comparison should end.
I wish that ebay would not allow people to do this, but due to the volume of auctions, don't really think there is a realistic way to enforce any rules that might lead to more truthful or accurate listings. Perhaps one of our members (I have one in mind) would be willing to become ebay's new "Minister of B.S." for all poker-related items.
