Chips: 807 | | | Really Old Auction (Already Ended) For $1k New Yorkers With all the fuss over the NY chips, I took a look back in the original thread from last year. Talk about hitting the jackpot: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...K:MEWA:IT&rd=1 |

Chips: 1,073 | | Re: Really Old Auction (Already Ended) For $1k New Yorkers why is there such a feeding frenzy over these new yorker $1000 chips? I looked at that thread and the guy who bought them for $2 a pop just bought 15 from me for $28 a pop. What's up? Whwn I saw that he sold one for $41, Iput those 20 out there for shits and giggles and they were gone in an hour.

Chips: 807 | | | Re: Really Old Auction (Already Ended) For $1k New Yorkers I dont really get it. I dont even like the 1k chips. I had a chance to buy just as many for $2/chip back then, but I didnt because I didnt like them. Obviously if I thought something like this would happen, I would have bought them all. I just couldnt see myself using them in a game. Im not a big fan of the 43mm. |

Chips: 259 | | | Re: Really Old Auction (Already Ended) For $1k New Yorkers How did you dig that up. That was my auction I won when no one wanted these. Yeah who would have thought.
I knew these were some of the best chips ever made by Paulson. They went all out in every aspect of design. Colors, edgespots, inlays etc... Some people have been hating on them here (I wonder how many haters do not own them). Once you get a hold of these chips in person, it is hard to not want a complete set. I will tell you this for sure, the Pictures do not do this $1,000 Primary chip justice. It is a incredible chip.
Had the $1,000 chips not been 43mm I could not have bought any of them. I own plenty of crystal park 43mm chips and they are awesome. I love the larger size. That is why I picked some up. I bought my chips without even bothering for samples. The looked much better then I expected in person. I have an excellent camera with all the photography equipment and I really can not capture the quality of this chip with the camera. Quote: |

Chips: 259 | | | Re: Really Old Auction (Already Ended) For $1k New Yorkers I boycotted them because there are not enough to buy at good price to even try for a set. I have one of the largest crystal parks sets in the world. I do not need to have a set of every chip out there.
There is a difference between hating and boycotting. I have never said the Vineyard was a bad chip. I never said I didn't like it. The big three as far as casino chips are the Crystal Parks, Vineyards and the New Yorkers. All of these are great chips and I would like a set of all of them, but the vineyard $10 chip has gone for $40 per chip. I like them, but I am not going to go broke trying to get em. All I said was that I am not going to try to get a collection for myself (boycotted).
The New yorkers will remain reasonible for most buyers for a long time. I think you will be able to make a nice set with $1, $5, $25 & $100 fairly cheap. This will not happen with the Crystal Park or Vineyards. Just because one chip from the collection is out of reach for most people in quantity, does not mean the whole set is.
My statement was flat out money management, not hating. There is a big difference.
FYI, I own some Vineyards too. Quote: |

if it's a price thing, just say so. calling it a boycott makes it seem like you've got some more noble reason for not buying them other than you don't wanna pay for it.
on the other hand, i did boycott the new yorkers. i thought they were ugly, and didn't feel as good as the vineyards. i could've bought them when they were going for $2 a chip. but do i regret not buying them now? HELL YEAH. then i could've sold them for some insane amount to all these chipgeeks who took forever to figure out that these chips are better than pharoahs or any other home chip they can make... | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
