Original post:
Hey all,
We've had an issue tonight where 4 different ChipTalk.net members were bidding on the same auction and bid it up a lot higher than it probably needed to be. There's probably a definite moral issue with collusion amongst bidders and I for one want to avoid that at all cost. However, it would be nice to know that we're bidding against friends and maybe that would preclude some behaviors that might otherwise occur.
Anyway, I'm sure you get my drift. Cynabear made a suggestion that it would have been nice to know that we were all bidding against one another. I think his point is well taken.
This thread will be devoted to cross-referencing our eBay and ChipTalk identities. Just post both here and I'll continue to edit the opening post.
Make sense? Do we collectively think this is a decent idea?
I'll start. My eBay ID is PokerSaladAndi.

I'll start. My eBay ID is zender_books. | I don't understand how you can say that this is "collusion". 4 people bidding against each oher, regardless of 'club affiliation', is called "Market Pricing". The highest bid is simply a matter of what final price the market will bare. Collusion is where 2 or more people conspire to inflate the price in an artificial manner.
Again, maybe I don't understand your point. |

Chips: 14,016 | | | Re: eBay/Chiptalk ID cross-reference listing Say all 3 of them wanted some set of chips and they decided rather than all bid against each other, one will bid and if he wins, they divy up the chips and each pay their portion for them. Its something that happens at live auctions sometimes when things are sold in lots. It is against most auction house rules to do this, hence collusion.

However, I will let you guys know that I've adopted the Lederer family's motto "Win at all costs."
So if I bid in an auction, I WILL win that.

It would be collusion, in my opinion were this type of thing to happen.
I don't believe we've crossed that line though just by sharing IDs in order to potentially be aware of friendly bidders.

Chips: 1,483 | | | Re: eBay/Chiptalk ID cross-reference listing I actually didn't bid on some of those Regency chips, because Quads was the high bidder, and I didn't want to get into a bidding war against someone I knew from ScottKeens, lol.
