I have 150 of them and everyone I play cards with loves them! No loss of detail whatsoever.
Gene does a fantastic job with these. You'll luv 'em. |

I really like 'em, in fact I beat the living tar out of 'em to see them at their worst. - now I really, really like 'em. They are strong and well made. I'll place an order in the near future - current plans are 1,300/smooth. ABC ceramics = A+. |

Chips: 1,170 | | | Re: ABC Custom Poker Chips Sample Sets Now Available! Hi H4tfan-
Thank you for the follow-up. Just out of curiosity, what did you do to the chips to test them?
After reading a post about a guy who "spiked" a chip, I decided to do the same thing on a cement floor. Depending on how the chip hit the floor, the results ranged from no damage at all, to chipped edges. Most spikes resulted in chipping of the edges. I even managed to get some of them to bounce up high enough to catch! I thought this was an "extreme" test for the chips, but I remember a more extreme one...
A couple years ago I had a customer tell me he was going to "test" the durability of our chips, including taking a dremel to them. I'm not sure why anyone would need chips that could stand up to a dremel, but he didn't buy any so I guess they weren't indestructible enough for him! I can just imagine a bunch of this guy's friends show up to play poker, and they bring their dremels with them. A couple bad beats into the game, and everyone's weilding dremels and tearing up his chips! I think I'd be looking for new friends instead of indestructible chips!
Thanks,

Chips: 1,260 | | | Re: ABC Custom Poker Chips Sample Sets Now Available! The arrival of my sample set didn't really help me choose between a smooth or textured chip like I thought it would ... the smooth ones definitely have sharper graphics, but it's VERY subtle and it's NOT that much different than the textured (in graphic quality).
The only ceramic chips I have experience with are Chipcos (home and casino chips) ... the ABC ceramics definitely don't feel like Chipcos, I noticed that immediately upon handling them ... they feel more like a cheap plastic (noticeably the rolling edges), comparable to Chipco's Unicorn chips ... but with that being said, it wouldn't detour me from possibly getting a custom set in the future. |

Chips: 1,170 | | | Re: ABC Custom Poker Chips Sample Sets Now Available! It's interesting how people get different opinions...I suppose that's why everyone says "get samples"!
I went to an Indian casino on Sunday and brought some of our chips with me. The casino uses Chipco chips. I asked several people to compare my chips with the casino's, and they all thought the smooth chips were the same as the casino's chips, and they didn't care for the textured chips because they were different. Each one of them either asked if I made the casino's chips, or mentioned how easy it would be to counterfeit them (obviously I'd never even consider doing that - prison is no place for me!) Of course, I don't think any of them are anywhere near the chip experts here, but that was their impression of the chips!
Thanks,

Chips: 1,845 | | | Re: ABC Custom Poker Chips Sample Sets Now Available! I got my samples yesterday and I'll echo what jello said, the difference between smooth and textured as far as graphic quality isn't that much and both of them blow away the graphic quality of a NJ.
But I also agree that they don't feel like Chipcos. I need to weigh some up (got the handy dandy gram scale for the kitchen now!), but my sense is that they are lighter than Chipcos. And I feel like I can feel a bit of a lip from the rolling edge that I don't feel on my Egyptians. Not a big deal, but just something that I noticed. |

Chips: 1,170 | | | Re: ABC Custom Poker Chips Sample Sets Now Available! Good idea...my postage scale does grams...I took a stack of 10 textured chips and 10 smooth chips. The 10 textured chips came up to 102 grams, and the 10 smooth chips were 98 grams.
Thanks,
