Website Feedback?

Hi Everyone-

One of the (many) things that I never seem to get time to do it work on our website. I've never been very happy with the poker chips page, and I made a New Year's resolution to make sure I did some work on it! I've made some changes, and would appreciate any feedback you would like to give! You can visit the new page at: Custom Poker Chips

Thanks,
Gene

Re: Website Feedback?

It's clean and easy to navigate through the page.

But it's really basic and looks to be put together with a template. It could potential turn away clients who don't realize the quality of product that you sell. They'll look at the site and think cheap site = cheap product when in fact anyone who is on CT knows you make top notch products.

Perhaps you could solicit the help from one of the talented designers from here on CT. I bet alot of them have web design experience and can really make your site pop.

I'll even wager that they'll literally work for chips!

EDIT:

To go into a few specific details:

1) The Poker Product Pages links that you have on the left side of the page. I think it would look better as an actual menu bar with buttons as opposed to text links.

2) Use better images of your product. The threads that Garyon has in your forum contain a lot of beautiful pictures. You should definitely get Garyon to snap some photos of your stock designs because the guy really knows how to take pictures of chips.

example: http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/abcgif...tml#post788698

3) Some better mockups of your stock selection. Something similar to what Garyon did for the PI Private Cardroom

example: http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/palmim...tml#post753045

Re: Website Feedback?

hey mate, looks ok, just been browsing around.

One thing I did notice though is there is no quick link on the left hand side in the 'product pages' section to go to the poker home page

edit - also on the Custom Dealer Button/Coaster page the left hand side goes back to the product pages and not the poker links

edit2 - your Personalized Poker Chips link shows your standard in stock ceramic chips, i thout they would have been better listed on the poker home page or under another link, if someone wasnt after custom chips they might never see your stock range of great ceramic chips. I know they can be customized but many people would think they are good enough to buy 'as is', they are great looking chips

Oh and those Pharoah dealer buttons should be on the front page, they are awesome

I hope I have helped, good luck with the new site

Re: Website Feedback?

Yeah, I gotta echo what TheDuke said. The chips are much more advanced than the site. It all looks a little plain/unsophisticated. Thechiproom.com is an example of a real nice site, as is Nevada Jacks.

Looks good to me! Very clean and easy to get around. I clicked on several links and the photos for each of the designs are top notch. Crisp, clear and really flattering to the different designs.

Re: Website Feedback?

Ditto. This is a great looking site circa 2002. It just needs to be freshened up.

I don't like the ABCGIFTSANDAWARDS.com heading. Maybe ABCGiftsandAwards.com
(or even abcgiftsandawards.com) would be better?

Re: Website Feedback?

I like the clean look. Much easier to browse the chips now. BigKyle, I find flash based sites like thechiproom a bit annoying. You cant really look at sites like that on mobile devices. Also, I believe its a bit more labor intensive for updates.

I'm a minimalist for web design. I like the new layout just fine.

Re: Website Feedback?

Thank you very much to those of you who have responded so far, I appreciate all of the comments and suggestions, and definitely appreciate anyone else who would be willing to take the time to help me. Luckily I'm better at doing custom chips than designing web pages!

Thanks,
Gene

Agreed ... I don't like the requirement of having a plug-in to view a site. I can't get to my voicemail online because the Flash plug-in is not being recognized. Who do I call? Adobe, the Phone Company, Microsoft (Windows support), etc. You can do SOOOO much with straight HTML and some Javascript knowledge, there is really very little need for plug-ins.

Funstionally speaking, I think the new layout is fantastic. I see enough of everything I need to see and can navigate to nearly anything I am interested in from right there. I also like a clean and simple design. Things are easy to locate and follow.

It could definitely benefit from more personality through some colors and graphics. There's a lot to consider when designing a web site though. I think that, if you are doing the design yourself, this site is very good ... It satisfies the main goals of the site ... information and order fullfillment. While a web site is important you can end up spend all your time working on THAT and getting NO chips made ... and that would make me VERY VERY sad

Peace,

Re: Website Feedback?

You're using too many different fonts and font variations. Stick to serif or non-serif in every text except maybe the header.

Make the table borders 1px black or even 0px so they're gone totally.

Overall a little too boxy... the first line sticks to the border of the box. Drop frontpage and have a look at basic CMS or blogging systems such as wordpress.
