Paint thinner will most likely discolour the plasticizer used in the chips, and with the amount of plasticizer that ASM chip have, I highly doubt that a dye would properly permeate uniformly into the chips.

I'm going to sacrifice one chip and try paint thinner. I know it's blasphemous to do this, but it's the last straw before I go onto either giving up and saying "F**K it an ink stamp isn't so bad", or dying the sons of Bi***s.
