A pot bet is betting the size of the pot. Bets from players that have acted before you are now part of the pot.
pot has 10
player A B C D
A bets 5 B calls5 C says raise pot 40 to call for D
C puts in 5+total so far 5+15 = pot 20
plus raise of pot size
pot=20 + 20=40
A has 35 more to call ditto with B
