No multiple choice options?
- 5 for my T2,000 "Donkaments" (monthly)
- 25 for my T10,000 NLHE "Samurai" or "Speakeasy" tourneys (roughly monthly)
- 100 for my T50,000 HORSE "Samurai" tourneys
- 5,000 for my T1,000,000 "Casino Royale" short-handed (5-max) set (hasn't been used for that yet)
- 5,000 or 25,000 for my T5,000,000 "Casino Royale" heads-up match (used occasionally)
I've even done T100 and T500 tournaments that start at 1/2 using a cash set (when that's all we've got on hand and people demand a tourney format). It's really arbitrary. You can start with a quarter if you want.
I used to prefer a 5 as the lowest value because I like having more colour on the table -- Always liked the traditional progression with red - green - black - purple - yellow or orange. I find if you start with a green 25, there just isn't enough colour for my taste (but I guess it varies from set to set, depending on the spots). That's the reason I chose to go with a reddish-pink 500 and a light blue 5000 for my Speakeasy set; just wanted more colour on the table (vs. a deeper purple 500 and a chocolate or grey 5000).
