| Re: New Bellagio $1 Chip O.K. guys. Just so you know (in case you haven't already noticed when you do it) scanners will fade colors. Case in point, the Rainbow Casino $1 has a neon orange, a neon pink, and a neon green edge spot. But when it is scanned, those neon colors fade out REALLY bad. Especially the orange and pink spots. (See below) There really isn't any way to bring these colors back easily.
Now to the new Bellagio $1. Based on the scans of it floating around on eBay, I have mixed feelings about it. The label has a cleaner and classier design. However, there is a PHOTO on eBay of a stack of some of the chips, and the colors are NOT faded. It actually looks VERY classy, assuming the photo is of good exposure. (See comparison below)
In both representations of the Bellagio, the edge spots are in the same place. So, we can see that the "Metallic Gold" (Paulson color chart) spot on the left of the chips doesn't change much, only duller in the scan, as is the "Canary Yellow" (Paulson color chart) spot on the bottom of the chips. But the "Beige" (Paulson color chart) spot on the right of the chips is completely grayed-out in the scan, as is the chocolate colors in the label. Also, the nice dark "Bahama Blue" (Paulson color chart) has paled-out to a tacky "Day Blue" (Paulson color chart).
So, do you all still think it looks bad? Has anyone actually SEEN the new Bellagio $1 in person? If not, I think the photo I found is a more acurate representation. I may be WAAAAAY off in what I have said above, and in my analysis of the colors, but until one of us ChipTalkers has one in hand and confirm the EXACT colors, I don't think we should jump to conclusions quite yet. Yes, scanners are great, but remember, they do change/fade some of the colors. I can attest to that. |
