| Re: Home game Win and run. We had one player who was famous for the ol' hit and run.
This was when we played a lot of dealer choice and not really knowing what we were doing). $5 buy-in, penny ante, essentially nickel/dime. About an hour in, he would call Anaconda hi-lo roll-em (ugh.. what an awful game). He would always pump the pot and very nearly always go low. After taking his half of the pot, he'd play another hand or two then cash out and leave.
After a couple months of this, everyone sort of caught on to what was going on. He's call Anaconda and we'd all groan. Whoever was on either side would always had off junk middle cards to him. Everyone else would wind up folding after the card swap when they realized that they couldn't make either the nut low or high. Before too long, he couldn't make his low hands (or his high hands) and nobody would play the game with him.
He started coming less and less frequently. We also started to transition to more traditional games and have picked up tournaments too. While he is still on the invite list, he hasn't shown in year.
Crazy hit and run for a $5 buy-in BYOB game. If anything, he'd come out up two bucks....
As a P.S., the usual games then were baseball, midnight baseball, iron cross, have a heart and occasional hold 'em. We played with a bunch of foreign (usually Mexican) coins that he picked up on various trips. Heavy, noisy and after ten minutes, your hands had that awful metallic smell. At the time, slugged ABS chips were the greatest thing since sliced bread!!!
I'm so glad those days are over! |
