| Re: Open Discussion: "Define Commercial" OK, so a personal classified ad is 100 chips. Let's make a commercial classified ad 300 chips (or x00 chips TBD). That way someone who wants to post an ad that most would consider commercial can do so, but at a premium. This makes them sponsors-lite or "sponsors for a day." Go ahead and post your "commercial" ad, but it'll cost you $3 or a bunch of posts to do so. The additional "cost" would tend to limit these commercial classifieds, the site then gets the benefit of 300 posts or $3, and the paying sponsors don't feel they're competing against someone getting a free ride.
Now, I know what you're all thinking: "develvjd- is an idiot. Who the h3ll would list their own ad as commercial and pay the extra tax? Who's gonna police this thing?"
Well, I figured that out too. How about a "Flag this post as Commercial" button on all personal Classified ads. If enough members flag the post as commercial, the ad is automatically changed to a commercial ad and the user is automatically deducted the additional 200 chips. This way the community can determine for itself what the is commercial on a case-by-case basis without tasking Mods. You guys have enough BS to deal with. Ten, then when you get a PM from an irate member about having his/her ad "upgraded" to commercial, you can say "Cry me a river, the rest of the community declared this ad commercial, not me."
