contrary to what some say...AA can win online. help to prove it by posting here. |
LOL. Well, if I had time to play online again this week, I'd make a wager that I can lose before you can win at showdown with AA... But alas... I have a live game Thursday night, and I doubt I'll have a chance to get sucked out on again before then.
Actually, last summer I won a memorable hand on P*. Unfortunately P* doesn't automatically save my HH's like Party does, but I remember it vividly (ignoring the suits).
$25NLHE, 9-handed (before I started playing the donktastic 6-max tables):
UTG had about $50.
UTG+1 had about $70.
jdunford had about $45.
Rest of the table was shorter stacked and doesn't matter.
jdunford dealt

.
UTG min-raises to 50¢.
UTG+1 re-raises to $1.50.
jdunford re-raises to $5.
folded around...
UTG calls $4.50.
UTG+1 calls $3.50.
$15 in the pot (plus blinds, less rake) pre-flop.
Flop is

.
UTG bets $2.
UTG+1 raises to $10.
jdunford raises to $40 and is all-in.
UTG raises and is all-in.
UTG+1 calls.
Turn is a brick (

?)
River is

.
jdunford shows

for Aces-full-of-Tens.
UTG shows

for Straight, A-high.
UTG+1 shows

for Kings-full-of-Tens.
jdunford triples up to $135 (minus rake).
UTG+1 takes the side pot.
UTG is busted, but sits for another 30 minutes with $0 to rant about how much of a "bad beat" it was... how few outs we had (since we had each other's outs), etc.
My thoughts: What the &*%$ was UTG thinking calling a $4.50 raise pre-flop with a player (re-raiser, no less) to act behind him? I'm not sure why the guy with KK didn't push preflop (well, I'd been very tight, so he probably suspected I might have AA)... but if I'm UTG, I know I'm sandwiched between raisers and the squeeze play totally applies... not to mention I've got junk against two players who obviously mean business. And then he has the nerve to complain about the "bad beat". 'Cause you know, we're going to fold our AAA and KKK to a $2 bet into a $15 pot. Sure.
So yes, once upon a time, I won a showdown with AA. But it hasn't happened yet this year. "Year of the Rat" indeed!!
