if you aren't a long term winning poker player (read 90% of people who play poker) then learning to shortstack is a great first step to becoming a winning player.

its not silly or stupid, and certainly can be very profitable. Obviously learning to play a full stack can be more profitable, but most of these players have identified an edge in the game and are capitalizing on it. That is a step further than your average poker player gets.
