I actually really like them. I have not weighed them but agree that they feel on the lighter side, although not lighter than other casino small key chips I have from the time period, and certainly not lighter than the standard BCC or other 'california weight' chips (again, based only on my feel, not scientific measurements).
I picked up 200 for $0.30 each way back when they were first discovered (something like 68,000 of them), and got good response (as a fun change of pace) when I substituted them for my $1 original Bond Paulsons at poker nights. I currently use them as the $1 chip with my low-denomination Casino Royale Bond set.
Personally I think the reason most people don't use/like them is that they are too widely available at prices that are too affordable (I'm not talking security, I'm talking snobbery). If only 1000 had been discovered, they would be as popular as Vineyards. From a chip colletor perspective (although I acknowledge the dynamics of the chip
set collector market is different), their value is approximately the same.
