You would have to watch the shows to get a chip breakdown. See how many chips players put in and what the bets are. If I remember right, the yellow chips were totally cheapo, the whites were used a lot, and the oranges were the big ones.

Maybe or maybe not this will help you figure it out. Screenshot of the PC game borrowed from CNet

Just a guess but :
100/500/1k/5k

20/16/40/10

Not sure why they would have 100s in there with a starting stack of 100k

Re: Poker Superstars III

Yeah, I was looking for the chip breakdown...sorry, I always say count instead of breakdown, my bad!

I might have to play around with 100K breakdowns...I felt like the starting stack sizes were pretty decent, which I liked, and I'm pretty sure they used 1K/5K/25K for the starting stacks...

I don't remember the 1K's being that productive, but I think that was also because they started the blinds pretty high and jumped them up really fast. They became insignificant pretty quickly it seemed like.

I just found out about pokertube.com! (I know, don't laugh and point fingers at me). I'll see if I can find something on there and if i can capture a screenshot of a starting stack...

If anyone finds out in the meantime please let me know!

Re: Poker Superstars III

Well the 100K stacks are for the qualifying rounds. After they get down to top 16 point earners then starting stacks differ based on number of points from qualifying rounds.

Each pool had two matches, with points being allocated as follows:
  • Winner: 10 points
  • Runner-Up: 7 points
  • 3rd place: 4 points
  • 4th place: 0 points
The points were cumulated from those 2 matches, and the players with the highest points then progressed to the quarter-finals.

[edit] Quarter-finals

The quarter-finals are 2 groups with 4 players in each. Each group will play 2 matches with the winner of the first match going to the semi- Finals. Then the 2nd game is played with the remaining 3 players in each, the winner in the one also advances. The players in the quarter-finals started with 20,000 chips for every point in the Playoffs and 25,000 for the original points.
So it's really going to be tough to determine what the breakdown is. Just that they are using 1k/5k/25k chips by then

Re: Poker Superstars III

okay, I'm pretty sure I got it...

Watched part of the start of an episode on youtube. Blinds were 10K/20K, putting $30K in the pot to start. What seems to be the first hand Gus Hansen goes all in and the pot jumps to 330K, meaning he had 300K.

It looks like Gus, Phil H., & Phil I. all had the same stack of chips, 3 stack of yellow ($1000), one stack + some of white ($5000), and what looks like 4 oranges ($25,000).

If they are stacks of 20, which makes sense, then the breakdown for 300K would be:

60 - $1000's (3 stacks)
28 - $5000's (1 stack + some)
4 - $25,000's (stack of 4)

It's weird though, because the $1000's don't seem to be of much use starting at 10K/20K and moving up so fast...must just be for looks...

Still pretty sweet though, 92 chips! I like it, just would drop down the starting blinds a bit and not move through them so quickly...

thanks!
