PNY care: Do they need Oil? How is the Color Transfer?

Due to my irrational addiction to poker chips and the subconscious desire to be poor, I have decided to buy some PNYs from various CT members. I have never had true casino chips and want to know how to best care for them.

1. Do the PNYs need oil? Will it hurt them to oil them? Does it improve the colors, or harm the inlay?

2. Compared to the home paulsons (NPS, 05 Bonds, Pharaohs, etc...), how bad, if any, is the color transfer? My NPS sample set was FILTHY after a week of shuffling. Most of it came off with a toothbrush and some mild detergent, but I don't want to have to clean my PNYs after every tourney.

Someone set me straight!! Preferable someone(s) who have used the PNYs regularly. Thanks ya'll!

Re: PNY care: Do they need Oil? How is the Color Transfer?

I have two sets of PNY's. A set that I use and a set I don't. I don't think PNY's need to be oiled. The set we use looks great, feels great without oiling. I suspect oil would just make them get dirty quicker.

Compared to the home paulsons (NPS, 05 Bonds, Pharaohs, etc...),

There is no comparison

Re: PNY care: Do they need Oil? How is the Color Transfer?

I also have a PNY or two and I have never oiled them. I have always had a color transfer problem with blue Paulson (casino and home) chips but that hasn't been an issue for the PNYs.

BTW, poislb said it best - there is no comparison. Congrats, you have the best IMHO.

Re: PNY care: Do they need Oil? How is the Color Transfer?

totally unnecessary, won't add anything really. Same thing for most paulsons except for dirty ones that you've cleaned and dried out. Then hit them with some oil to brighten them up. But unlike BCC which MUST be oiled IMO, or ASM & TRK which look so much better oiled, Paulson's really don't need it.

You only need to oil Paulson when after cleaning them(Oxy-clean, Pipe Shield, ect..) to bring them back to life. New or semi use PNY's no need.

Good luck with your new chips, I already missed my PNY's.
