Doyle Brunson, Layne Flack, Phil Hellmuth, Chris Ferguson, Erik Seidel & T.J. Cloutier.
Interesting table with a group of outstanding players (yes I'm the master of the obvious).
The table talk has been superb. Though HSP might be the top dog, this maybe a close second on pure entertainment.
I won't divulge any spoilers in case people haven't seen it.

I've definitely been enjoying this group, but as is typical I find myself wanting to commit either murder or suicide when Hellmuth opens his mouth.
I settle for the mute button.
Can't wait to see who ends up on top.

This is definitely a very good week.
The problem with PAD is either it is amazing, or you hope for death. Does anyone remember the first couple weeks? It was really, really good if you play poker live. It was really like you were sitting in on the game, but you were psychic, too. They didn't skip a single hand, but the players they had on kept it entertaining, and they worked commercials in evenly to balance time perfectly.
Now, the show is over-produced for the general audience, which makes absolutely no sense because it is in a time-slot that the general audience doesn't watch. They try to coordinate shows to start and end with big hands, and more frequently, knockouts. They cut hands at the wrong time, and wayyy too often, to the point that the first 2 episodes have 3 commercials per break on average, and the last 3 of the week have an average of 5. I know almost everyone just watches it online, but fast forwarding through Tivo gives you an idea of how much it happens.
Last week had some very good play from Kaplan, but by episode #3 it was painful to watch a hand, pick up the remote to skip 5 commercials, watch 2 hands, find the remote...
BTW, did you see 2 weeks ago when Patrik Antonius and Brad Booth got down to heads up, and Booth revealed that 2nd place gets paid $5,600 or something like that? The credits have the "paid for appearance" line, but it was so funny to hear someone smash the "winner take all" appearance of the show when they went on tilt.

As I've been watching this week's show, I've been wishing there was a version in which you didn't see whole cards, have the hands/pcts displayed and no commentary on the hands (something like the pay-per-view WSOP final table).
This would allow you to imagine what it would be like sitting there and trying to actually play at such a "dream" table.
I thought about taping things to cover the hand displays, but how do you stop all the hole cams shots?
I thought about mute, but you'll miss all the banter and verbal comments/tells.
Oh well...it was a thought.

I watched PAD last night for the first time in a long time. I needed to cool down after being felted by Tomer Benvenisti at about 1:30. I had forgotten how much I enjoy that show. Time to start the TIVO again.
