| Re: how would you play this hand I had a similar hand today, except I held A6o from SB. Button had limped and big blind checked. Flop was 7-6-2; I bet half the pot; both called. Turn was another 6. I checked, BB bet, button raised, I pushed, button called and showed me 22 - deuces-full-of-sixes, which held up to win.
There wasn't much I could do. I hoped one of them had K6 or Q6, and the only hand I was really afraid of was 76s or similar. It's hard to see a flopped set -> turned boat coming when you turn trips. Those are the hands you're bound to get felted on. In your case, a better K had you beat (the only K you were beating was K2), so I might've slowed down when he raised my $50 bet and just called. Then I would've happily taken his stack on the river. By comparison, if you'd held AK (and didn't raise sufficiently pre-flop to push him out), you'd be screwed no matter what you did...
*EDIT* Given you didn't actually make a better boat on the river...
Having just called his raise on the turn (rather than pushing), he'd know you have some strength (probably a K), and he'd be unlikely to bet into you again with a K2 or worse... so if he bets, you know you're beaten. |
