i freakin' hate the high hand jackpot. house rakes $2 on every pot bigger than $20, and pays out $500 for high hand every hour m-th and $300 every 2 hours f-sun.
it's horrible. but it's nice when you win it.
story:
7/14: i'm there for 90 minutes, playing 4/8, and it's so far a typical night. i'm being patient, but have missed a few draws and am tired of never playing any hands. i'm down a little. i try to be all howard lederer/TMJ and not count my chips, but THEY'RE STACKED IN 20S, and it's sort of hard not to notice that i'm down. (should i stop stacking so neatly?).
for whatever reason a couple people are away from the table and we're now 6 handed. a perfect situation to make a dumb tilty raise of

utg.
3 callers come along.
flop:
i check call the button's raise, and the sb comes with. i pray to god another diamond comes on the turn.
turn comes a small diamond. i bet, button raises, we lose the sb, i three bet, he caps. river comes whatever it comes. we get two bets in and him allin (which is a bad beat for me), and he shows down the

for what he amusingly calls "the nuts".
i drag a good pot, but more importantly i get up on the high hand board. even more importantly, there's only 17 minutes left for someone to suck out on me. i sweated it hard ($300 matters, yo!) and collected da monies.
good news part 2: i ran well and ended up +$600 for the night. maybe i should turn 4/8 pro?
