The "specials" we play with are:
- No picture cards
- 6 pairs
- 3 straights
- 3 flushes
- Full house in the middle
- Straight/royal flush
- 4 of a kind
- Trips on top
So on any given hand, you could possibly have a combination of 3 or 4 of them.
Tonight, we actually added another twist. We were playing 3 handed while we waited for the rest of the guys. After we dealt out all 4 hands, we were each allowed to muck 1 card and replace it by choosing a random card from the dead hand, starting left of the dealer and going clock-wise so the dealer was last to choose. If your hand was good as is, you could pass your turn. Sometimes the new card made your "good" hand into a "monster" hand, and sometimes it did absolutely nothing. I recommend trying this as it makes a fun game even more interesting.
