After recently parting with my Nexgens I decided to order a sample set of World Poker Series chips from ABC Gifts and Awards. I like they way they looked on their website as well as here on ChipTalk. I've read mixed reviews on these so I decided to take a look for myself.

Pros:

• The aligned edgespots on my samples were perfect. They guarantee their alignment to 1mm. I received 6 chips with aligned edgespots and could not find one that was off by even a fraction of that.
• The samples are made on the smooth faced ceramic chip. It's not as smooth as I anticipated, but good nonetheless.
• These chips sound really great when splahed into a pot. They don't sound like a slugged chip and they don't sound like a clay chip. It's somewhere in between and completely unique.
• I can see how these would quickly make your home game feel like the biggest stage in poker!!

Cons:

• The edges of these chips are quite shiny and glossy yet the faces are quite "matte"ish. I would have like them even more if the entire chip was as shiny as the rolling edges.
• At $0.80/chip for aligned edgespots these are quite pricey as far as other ceramics are concerned. Also, solid clay chips with a custom inlay can be purchased for the same price from ASM.
• This last item really isn't a con as much as personal preference but I don't like the pink 500 chip. I know that's what the WSOP uses but I just don't care for it.

All in all I really liked these chips. In fact, it was surprisingly difficult to come up with any cons at all. If you're looking for some darn good WSOP replicas you can't go wrong with ABC Gifts and Awards.
