10/10

Well as you could guess from the title I have Pocket 10's, table is fairly tight except for bicilotti & straubmarley. bicilotti has been mixing it up a little and straubmarley is a calling station, but folds to almost any raise after the flop by his opponent.

I am dealt 10's, two limpers in front of me, so I raise it 4x's the bb. straubmarley & bicilotti both call. Flop comes 8h 7h 6c. It is checked around to me & I raise $5. straubmarley folds, bicilotti it up to $15.

Fold, Call or push? Is he on a straight draw, flush draw and is it an easy fold?

Re: 10/10

With 2 limpers, raise it more than 4xbb. Low stakes, my open raise is 4x, and I add a bb per limper.

It's not an easy fold. If he has TP, obviously you're beating him. If he has 2 pair, you've got plenty of outs - 4 nines, 2 tens, 3 sixes (assuming he has 87), and you pick up 3 of whatever the turn card is to out-two pair him on the river. If he has a set or bigger pocket pair, you're down to 6 outs, 4 if he's got a smaller straight.

As is, there's ~$11 in the pot and he's raising $10. He's also all-in on the turn with any made hand betting the flop.

I probably fold without a better read on him, but I don't think pushing is terrible either. Tough hand.

Re: 10/10

raise more or limp. if you get more than one caller, you'll often be in this spot. there's nothing wrong with playing TT for set value.

you've been check-raised on a dangerous board while holding only a medium strong hand. if you're behind you likely have few outs. say bye bye now.

Re: 10/10

Can't call. Call says weakness and he'll make you pay on the turn -- and you will fold unless the turn hits you hard. Two options: re-raise or fold. Folding is not a bad play, because there are flush and straight draws out there, though I'd be surprised if he called 4xBB while holding something that made the straight -- maybe suited connectors if he is that loose....

In any event, a "feeler" re-raise might win you the pot. (Hell, his raise might have been a "feeler" raise.) And if he calls, you might be in trouble and be folding unless you trip at the river and/or make the straight yourself.

Are you up for the session? If your playing with other people's money, obviosuly that changes the analysis. You had nearly twice his stack... If you bump, he's basically all-in to call... and might call because he felt Livonia (inside joke with Quads meaning pot-committed). He's got what $17 of his $39 in the middle? You are talking about a raise to $32... He'll put in the other $7 and then you will have to call, no matter what.

Wow -- tough situation, but without a better read, I probably lay it down.

So what happened?

Re: 10/10

I would limp in with 2 limpers already, if your going to raise it has to be more. As it's played I think you have to let it go here. The board sucks and your hands not great.

Re: 10/10

Hands he does not have:
AA - he might limp, but would certainly re-raise your $2 (which as was pointed out, was too small with 2 limpers already in)
KK - might limp, but would certainly re-raise
QQ - a brave limp UTG+1 and would certainly re-raise
JJ - very brave limp UTG+1
AK/AQ - certainly raising hands in EP, especially if suited

So what hands have you beat?
1. 88
2. 77
3. 66
4. 9Ts
5. 45s
6. 78s
7. 67s
8. 68s

If he's limping and calling raises with #8, then this exercise is pointless. So anything besides #1-#7, you re-raise all-in. He's committed nearly ˝ his money to this pot, so it's unlikely you can push him off anything but a complete bluff.

You've only committed $7 (less than 10%) of your money.

I fold.

Re: 10/10

Yeah, I fold here too.

But mainly I just wanted to chime in to point out a pet peeve of mine. It's not 10/10, it's T/T. Sorry, couldn't help myself.

Re: 10/10

Well I continue to make mistakes with this hand (1. not raising more preflop) and call his raise (2.). The turn brings a , he pushes I call (STRIKE 3). The river brings a . He has 8/8 for the set. I guess I shouldn't be playing like this money was still play chips. I easily should have laid it down once he reraised me on the flop.

I have another hand that I played that I could either post here or start another thread.

T/T (how's that?)
