anybody ever cut an acryl rack?

i want to fit another 60 chips into my chip case. problem is, there isn't enough room for another rack left. two thirds of a rack would fit though.
so i thought about cutting an acryl rack, but i'm afraid i will just destroy a rack cause it will splinter. so has anybody ever cut an acryl rack?

chip tubes may be an alternative, but a rack would look better and i have no tubes...

here's a pic to give you an idea (as usual crappy pic taken with my phone)

Re: anybody ever cut an acryl rack?

I've cut a lot of acrylic, but not a chip rack, specifically.
You will need a table or radial arm saw and a good / high quality carbide tip blade.

I have cut this material often. On a table saw if it is flat sheets (i.e. windows). It will splinter slightly if fed too fast. For shaped material (i.e. like your trays) I would use a band saw. If you take your time it will be fine.

If you don't have a band saw (like me) - I would use a hand held jig saw. Get a plastic cutting fine blade and use a slow speed. Put masking tape over the cut line. Use a file to knock down all the edges.

Re: anybody ever cut an acryl rack?

I have seen plastic cut with a heated wire. That might also be an idea.

(I know you already have somebody helping I am just throwing out some suggestions.)
