well, he had 6 outs to your pair+ace.
heh. Yeah, that sucks.
You should move up where your weird overbets are respected.

I've seen too many people on-line make the "two overcards to the board" call, hoping for exactly what happened for him.
I've seen the same play VERY often with that flop and KQs, JQs and similar overs.
His Q 8 were both overs, and he was hoping (as was the case) that you had only hit a pair on that board.
I'm guessing this was a micro buy-in tournament? |

I think that was a play money tournament. In that case, expect the early all-ins with any 2 over
cards. |

i'd say the huge movein with just a small pair is about the 4th biggest donk play ever. |

all tourny situations
1) limping after several limpers holding AA, so as not to lose any customers.
2) minraising preflop, almost ever
3) just calling with bottom pair on the flop, to "see what happens on the turn"
5) calling an allin on the flop with 2 overs and no other draws. |

I wouldn't call it the biggest donk move ever in a 300+20 tourney. I also wouldn't throw up because of it. You called his all in with top pair on the board with an ace kicker. He could have had any pair higher than your 5's and suckered you into going all in. Did he Donk you yes, but why did you play that hand?
If you play a hand like As 5s, you should be looking for certain flops and draws. Flush draw, hitting trip 5's and the A-5 straight. If I played that hand this early in a tourney SNG, I would have let it go to someones All In after the flop even after a flop like yours, but that's me. Also its play money and ppl will push ANYTHING, when you get into the 50000K SNG's ppl will still push junk but there are usually 4-5 players that actually know how to play. In Low limit SNG's there are even more people that will do the same thing. Good luck, have fun and I hope you feel better. |

He didn't call the all-in, he pushed and Frankie B called with Q,8... with no draw and no pair, and hit his overcard to win. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
