Sometimes (due to table balancing, no-call/no-shows where you still post then remove the stack, etc.) you'll have an odd numer of odd chips...that is to say, in your example, instead of a cumulative 8 odd chips between the 4 players, they'll only have 7. In that case, you still round up and award 2 $100 chips for the 7 $25's...
Suggestion: Have the big stack at the table buy up all the small denoms (except for the odd leftovers). Then you can color up the big stack all at once (instead of ten smaller color-ups). Then do your race.
Suggestion 2: Just round up each person instead of racing. Its quicker.
