| Re: Matsui- Company Samples Here is my opinion about dispositioning free samples....
Some of you have made trades with me, and it has been my desire to be as fair possible, if not actually being a bit generous when and where I can. My trading activities have included manufacturers samples, and generally, they trade for other manufacturer samples, or for actual $1 casino chips, i.e., $1 chips that are face value at the casino and $3 in retail value to a collector.
In principal, manufacturers samples do have a value and nothing is ever for free. I am not aware of Pvt.Joker's specific circumstance, but he/she did take the time to make the request of Matsui. It may not have cost money, but it did cost time and effort, or at least the expendature of efforts that many of us have not done. Again, not knowing what he/she ended up doing, but perhaps there was a purchase of Matsui chips, does that not then factor into the overall value of the sample chips? Even if another manufacturer was selected, does this not still increase the value of the non-selecetd manufacture samples as a function of the time and effort to do the reasearch?
Anyway, my point is, to me, it matters not what the person got the chips for, only what they are worth to me to get. Is it a fair trade, or a fair purchase for me? If the other person got the chips for free, then good for them. If I get a fair trade/purchase, then good for me. But I do not expect the person that got chips for free to give them away for free. Sure its nice when it happens, and it does happen, but it should not be an expectation. If that were the case, then I should only offer my $1 chips at face value and $5 chips at face value, etc.
Well, just my opinion.
