If your low limit is $1/2 I'd recommend a $2 chip. It's a great excuse to get another chip color/combo into your set and they will also allow you to have a smaller number of $1 and $5 chips (leaving more room for even more chips of course!).

Face it - at some point you're going to get a $0.25 chip just so you can play games with a cheaper ante. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon - and use them for the rest of your life.
