Did you look up the number independently, or call the number they left you in the message?
Sounds
very much to me like scammers got your name and phone number, somehow in connection with playing poker, and that's all they had. They call you, leave a scare message, and try to get you to call back with your login information. Any passwords and other personally identifying information would have been next.
Either way, it didn't work for you. Either you called the scam number, but the fact that you didn't have a login name messed up their script, or you called the
real number, and they honestly didn't have any record of you.
This sort of thing is done less and less over the phone nowadays, given the relative cost compared with the expected return, but it still happens.
But I'm thinking attempted scam all the way.
