Re: My new Poker Table Topper

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Here is a quick expense list:

Home Depot
2 sheets 4x8 plywood: $70

www.yourautotrim.com
3 yds Rail Foam (1" 60lb Foam): $45
3 yds Table Foam (1/4" 2-EO Volara): $30
3 yds Green Suited Speed Cloth: $45

Joann Fabrics
3 yds Whisper Vinyl: $45

I already had the necessary tools and velveteen scraps, so no costs there.... so we are talking about somewhere around $230 plus tax or so. I hadn't used www.yourautotrim.com before, and found them thanks to Scott Keen's forum. They shipped very quickly and the items were very well packed (of course, its hard to damage a bunch of foam i guess!). This is also my first time using the closed-cell Volara foam for the playing surface. It seems a little too dense and "springy" for me, but I haven't actually played on it yet so the jury is still out on that.

As far as how long it took, I had built a couple tables prior to this one so I think I am fairly efficient at this style.... it took me basically 2 long afternoon/evenings worth of work: 1st to sketch out and make all the cuts, and the 2nd to glue the foam down, upholster the rail and surface, and attach everything.
