We started playing this one a few games ago and it's quickly become a favorite in our group! If anyone doesn't know this one, here's a little tutorial I made up (how we play it anyways)
BINGO
It's a point system where each card is at face value, faces are 10, aces are 11 AND 1. It's a HiLo split pot at the end, where the highest points and the lowest points split the pot. Fun part is that Aces swing, so if you are lucky enough to get 3 or all 4 aces in your hand, you're likely to scoop. However, if one person discards all of his 5 cards before the last round of betting, the whole pot is automatically won in his favor.
Every player is dealt 5 cards face down. Then 5 seperate sets of 2 cards are laid face down as community cards. A round of betting occurs after you get your cards. The first set of 2 cards is then flipped face up. Whoever has either of the 2 cards in their hand must discard those cards face up in front of them, therefore the points of those cards is deducted from the player's hand. After that, there's a round of betting again and then the next set of cards is flipped over. This continues until all five sets are flipped over. If no one has BINGOd out yet, there is one more round of betting. After that point you can either declare for high, low, or pig, or you can let cards speak. Our group plays declare.
As an example, if our hand is AJ443 our total starting points would be 33. Not too great of a starting hand, as
usually the highest point total in a 7 person game would end at around 32-38. If the first 2 community cards turned up are King/4, we drop both of our 4s face up and our total points drops to 25. If we decide to stick around to try to drop our Jack, it would be a huge drop because we would make a 4 low and that's pretty good. So say the next 2 cards turned up are 7/King. Now since the first 2 had a King in it, the new King won't do anything because the other Kings should have been dropped already. Another round of betting occurs after the 7s are dropped. Since we play these kind of games for low stakes, I'd probably hang one more time to try to drop the J. The third set reveals a Jack/2. That's huge, we drop our Jack and anyone who had a 2 now loses that 2, decreasing his probability of a low. We are definitely hanging around now with our 4 low, because if we catch a 3 we have the 1-low, and if we catch the A our 3-low is good because the 2 and A are gone, which is good unless someone BINGOs out. Even if we don't catch a 3 our 4-low will hold for the low most of the time.
If you guys have a fun group of players who likes to take a break from serious poker and play good gambling card games, you have to pick this one up. It's great
