After reading Jim's informative rule of 3 post, I had a question - but didn't want to hijack his thread.

Every time I've gone to a casino (which actually isn't that many times), I've gone to the cage and asked if they have any new chips to add to my collection. I have always been told that I need to buy chips from the floor. So I drag my butt out to an empty table and ask the dealer if they have a new or very new chip I can buy for a collection. I've had cases where the dealer told me to piss off, others where the pit boss came over and told me to piss off and others where the dealer was very patient and tried to find me a nice chip in his tray.

Does one just have to get lucky and find the chips? How do you go about picking up new chips in a casino for a collection, let alone 3 of them?
