$50 is only 12.5BB at 2/4. I've lost that in a hand
I would recommend learning limit holdem in full ring games, the variance in 6max is insane. I dropped 80BB the other night over 1k hands. Sucks, but it happens. As I've never read Jones' book I really can't comment on it but I've *heard* that it's "weak-tight". What this means is that Jones style is giving up a little edge in order to keep beginners out of serious trouble. When I cap an OESFD on the flop in 6max, I do it for a few reasons but I *understand* why I'm doing it, I'm not just doing it robotically. # of players in the pot, strength of said players and my position relative to them are the determining factors of if I want to 3bet/cap or just call. 6max is a game of pushing the smallest of edges as hard as you (sanely) can.
As others here have said, I don't think you'll go wrong learning Jones' style. It's aimed towards limit beginners and will give you a solid foundation. SSHE's style doesn't even really work to well in the tight full ring games we're finding today but as you make the transition to 6max you'll get torn up if you are at all "weak-tight". Just the blinds are going to kill you.
